This procedure could refer to the upper eyelid, lower eyelid or occasionally both. Upper eyelid surgery is a relatively brief procedure that can at times be performed in the office with a 1 to 2 week recovery. This procedure can have one of the greatest impacts on reversing the signs of perceived aging as well as increasing the field-of-view superiorly when the eyelid skin is starting to fold over the eyelashes. Lower eyelid surgery is typically a more complicated and more variables have to be taken into account. While patients are typically back to their usual activities in about two weeks postsurgical swelling can take a number of months to completely resolved. In both cases the surgical incisions are hidden in the existing skin creases.
